Our Sunday morning sessions at Mapledurham are a short drive from Reading, Tilehurst, Caversham and Henley - and we regularly welcome puppies from further afield, including Burghfield, Mortimer, Basingstoke and Maidenhead.

Socialisation isn't just puppies playing with other puppies.

That's one of the most common misconceptions we come across - and one that can genuinely do harm.

Unstructured, chaotic play during this sensitive window can create anxiety and reactivity that takes months - sometimes years - to unpick. And a puppy can be struggling without their owner even realising, because they don't yet know what to look for.

Our sessions are guided, calm, and intentional. Yes, there is off-lead interaction - but it's supervised and carefully managed, paired with gentle exposure to people, handling, and new experiences. You'll also start learning how to read your puppy's body language - because understanding what they're telling you changes everything.

What comes next

These sessions feed directly into our Level 1 Puppy Classes - a four-week programme built specifically for gun dogs, doodles, and their crosses.

Many of our Level 1 clients start here. By the time they join their first class, their puppy already has a head start on confidence and calm exposure.
